OCTOBER 12, 2005 -- More than 1,000 jobs will be axed at the UK's All:Sports after the chain failed to attract a buyer and went into administration.

The administrator is closing 92 stores out of the chain's 264 doors. Thias will result in 1,173 employees being fired. Another 147 staff members at headquarters and the warehouse will also lose their jobs. The hcian had about 300 people employed there. "The redundancies and shop closures have been anticipated for some time and the announcement does not affect the hopes for a sale of the remaining business," the adminsitrator said.
