And 1 Lands Apparel Deal with High Life Apparel

JANUARY 27, 2006 -- And 1 entered into a long-term apparel licensing agreement with High Life Apparel LLC. AND 1 apparel produced by High Life will be available at retail in late 2006.

“I am thrilled to be working with AND 1,” said High Life Executive Vice President, Isaac Levy. “The heritage and the power of their brand combined with the strength of High Life's product development capabilities will make this partnership truly beneficial to both organizations.”

And 1 said New York based High Life Apparel is a premiere global manufacturer, merchandiser and marketer of men's, women's and children's branded and private label apparel. Isaac Levy was formerly VP of Happy Kids Inc., the children's apparel concern. High Life will handle AND 1 men's apparel for domestic accounts as well as key accounts in Canada. The partnership is a multimillion-dollar deal that will enhance AND 1's already strong apparel division.

“The alliance with High Life Apparel is a perfect strategic fit for our brand,” said Mark Woolsey, General Manager of AND 1, “The combination of our basketball savvy and High Life's recognized strength in product development will allow our apparel business to move forward on a much larger scale then ever before. Together we will create greater brand visibility and meet the needs of key retailers.”

In May 2005, And 1 was sold to American Sporting Goods, which owns brands such as Avia, Ryka, Nevados, Yukon, Turntec, NSS and Apex. Woolsey was formerly vp-marketing for DC Shoes, but was director of marketing for And 1 from October 2000 to April 2003.

Woolsey reports to Kevin Wulff, president and CEO of Irvine, Calif.-based ASG.
