DECEMBER 21, 2005 -- Shares of Nike Inc. tumbled $2.73 to $85.75 Wednesday after the company the prior night posted a 15 percent increase in quarterly profits, but warned that future orders were lagging. The company beat quarterly profit projections by 11 cents per share.

Ashworth has signed a long-term contract with the United States Golf Association to serve as lead apparel vendor for the US Open for the '06 through '09 seasons.

Annually inspectors with the Massachusetts Division of Standards test the accuracy of price scanners at retail stores. Of the 4,900 items in 90 stores checked by the agency, there were only 51 overcharges. But Dick's failed the test and will pay $1,400 in nfines. The total amount of fines was $5,500 for all delinquent stores.
