Is SGMA Shopping Super Show?

OCTOBER 27, 2005 -- Is SGMA shopping the Super Show around to find a body to buy out the current show's management contract, which has another four years to go after January's event? SGMA president Tom Cove sounded out the Munich Fairgrounds (MMG), which now operates the world's largest sporting goods show, ispo. But MMG is intent on developing its new shows in Shanghai and Moscow, and is giving future thought to a show in Sao Paolo to serve Latin America. These are much easier challenges than reviving the Super Show. There is also a rumor that the management of MAGIC has been approached as well.

This isn't the first time SGMA has shopped the show. Former president John Riddle thought he had a deal with Reed Exhibitions back in '00, but Rick White, an experienced sporting goods executive, was hired by Reed. He put the lid on any sale.
